Christmas Holiday

My husband actually doesn't celebrate Christmas because of his religion, he doesn't understand the feeling you get in the pit of your stomach ( you know butterflies). He can't understand the way you get goosebumps and the giddy feeling of opening a present. The joy a person feels when they give a child a gift or receiving a gift.

I grew up in Christmas, traditional the prepping would start after Thanksgiving dinner by putting up our Christmas tree. From there we would be seeing presents one by one filling under the tree. 5 days before Christmas we would prepare our food. We are an Hispanic family, my parents came from Guatemala City, Guatemala. So we eat Tamales (Central American style not Mexican) from scratch. This actually involved all of our members, Mom, Dad, my 2 older sisters and me. We would have the music blasting, singing and dancing was a must. Oh beautiful memories. On Christmas Eve we would eat lunch then fast until midnight which we would eat our Tamale, hot chocolate and a bread that we call Frances.

Of course through out the years and fast forwarding to today, I am married and my husband and I are Muslim. We do not celebrate Christmas because of the religious belief the Christians and Catholics put in it. So do I miss Christmas, the only thing that I miss is the traditional gatherings or what my family did for the preparation for it. The actual belief of the religious part no I do not. I don't believe in it so for me it is not.

What I do want to express is for the people that celebrate this time of the year I hope you had a beautiful Christmas around the people you love and appreciate. Insha'Allah you all are blessed and have many more!!

My adventures salute you for being brave in giving me those words of wisdom which give me the energy I need to keep breaking away from this enclosed space.
